The assessment of real compensation – evaluating and balancing landscape character impacts and compensation measures – is carried out in Brandenburg according to the „Märkisches Modell". The method is based on GIS-supported viewshed analyses and enables a transparent accounting of impacts and compensation measures on the landscape character.
We support project developers and planning offices promptly in preparing the required analyses and expert reports – from the initial GIS evaluation to a complete, permit-ready expert report.
A particular advantage of our approach is the optional integration with the Passage platform: results from the GIS analysis can be transferred directly into a 3D environment and visually verified. This allows the effects of turbines and measures to be understood and communicated not only numerically, but also spatially and visually.
Our service packages provide the right level of support – from a quick decision-making basis to a comprehensive expert assessment.
Change is the only constant: Planning adjustments are part of everyday project work. That is why up to three calculation runs are included in the price – with no hidden additional costs.
We work as partners: Deadline pressure is not a business model for us: we always work as quickly as possible and do not charge surcharges for expedited delivery.
aratall GmbH provides professional assistance with all aspects of the „Märkisches Modell".
Our services at a glance:
We offer three service packages – from a quick basic analysis to a comprehensive expert report. Depending on the package, we provide our services at a flat, highly competitive rate per project or turbine. Simply request a non-binding quote!
This basic analysis delivers the core results of the „Märkisches Modell" quickly and affordably.
Ideal if you need an initial overview or want to identify where compensation areas have the greatest impact within the „Märkisches Modell".
With the Detailed package, you receive an automatically generated report.
Ideal if you need the results clearly documented, for example for use in your landscape management plan (LBP) and/or for calculating compensation payments.
The Full Review provides a detailed expert report that leaves nothing to be desired.
If your project is complex or you require a full expert report for the permitting process, this is the right choice.
* Data preparation includes, among others: conversion of the DSM provided by the state surveying office from 25 cm to 1 m per tile; removal of existing wind turbines from the DSM; alignment of DTM and DSM; incorporation of potential compensation measures into the DSM; consideration of areas defined as visually obscured, such as settlements and forests.
** The 2-dimensional results can be reviewed directly and immediately within the 3D environment of the Passage platform.
*** Valid only until submission of the final expert report. Preliminary versions and recalculations are delivered in the form of the Detailed package.
The „Märkisches Modell" follows a logical, three-step process to ensure an objective assessment:
Our calculations are based on official and high-resolution data sources:
Our workflow covers every step – from assembling the data components through viewshed analysis to quantification. We differentiate precisely by natural landscape units and visibility classes.
We classify the visibility of wind turbines into 5 classes (I to V), ranging from 1–20% visibility to 81–100%. This enables a nuanced assessment of the actual visual impact on the surrounding landscape.
